PLUMBING
Expert plumbing and water heater replacement services for homes and commercial properties, specializing in energy-efficient systems that meet code and qualify for utility rebates.
HEAT PUMP FEATURES

01
EFFICIENCY
The hybrid electric heat pump technology is Energy Star rated, and uses high efficiency evaporator fans and coils to remove heat from the air and transfers it to the water tank.
03
LONGEVITY
These units typically have a longer lifespan than traditional water heaters, reducing replacement costs over time.
02
SUSTAINABILITY
Heat pump technology offers significant environmental benefits by efficiently transferring heat from air to water rather than generating it through combustion. This results in reduced greenhouse gas emissions and zero NOx.
04
VERSATILITY
HPWH units can operate in different modes, including efficiency mode, electric mode, and hybrid mode, allowing users to select the most efficient operation based on their needs.
01.
Initial Audit

During the initial audit we will visit the site and document the existing water heater/boiler system, electrical infrastructure, room sizing, and existing ventilation. All data collected is used to verify feasibility of the the new technology.
02.
Sizing & Approval

Our project development engineer will submit existing hot water system specifications to the manufacturer for replacement equipment recommendations. We will also send the same information to Willdan Energy for rebate pre-approval.
03.
Engineering
Once the project is approved, our engineering team will draft plumbing, electrical ,architectural structural if needed) plans and prepare the permit application for building department approval.
04.
Construction
Our construction team is project is highly experienced, with over 300 units installed throughout California. The project manager will coordinate and manage all aspects of installation from demo of the old equipment to startup of the new units.
05.
Maintenance

It is recommended to conduct annual service on the heat pump equipment to include flushing the tank, changing filters, inspecting electric elements and cleaning the evaportor coils.
HEAT PUMP WATER HEATER REPLACEMENTS
June 7, 2024 the Sothern California Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) amended Rule 1146.2 which applies to NOx emissions from natural gas-fired Water Heaters, Boilers, and Process Heaters with a rated heat input capacity ≤2 million Btu/hr. Equipment that exceeds the allowable NOx emissions limits will need to be replaced or retrofitted.

General Timeline:
-
Effective June 7, if an existing water heater or boiler is being replaced, Low NOx or No NOx equipment (such as a HPWH) must be used.
-
Generally, non-compliant equipment must be replaced beginning in 2029.

SCE Commercial Energy Efficiency Program provides rebates for upgrading natural gas water heaters to high efficiency, state of the art, heat pump water heaters (see below for a list of benefits). Eligible HPWH through our program have zero NOx, and therefore EXCEED the SCAQMD requirements.
